A 29-year-old woman is fighting for life after being hit by a car in Waterford West early this morning.
It's believed the Bethania local had just left Fitzy's Waterford and was attempting to cross the busy Albert Street around 4am, when she was struck.
Police on the scene say the woman had been thrown a fair distance in the collision and the car involved was sufficiently damaged.
She was treated on scene by paramedics for more than an hour before being transported to PA hospital in a critical condition. The driver and his passenger were also assessed on scene for shock.
Albert Street has been closed off as forensic crews investigate.
