Three Bundaberg State High School students have been selected from hundreds across Australia to participate in the International Space Settlement Design Competition in America.

Year 11 students, Alex Buckholz, Kasey Chandler and Brooklyn Davis will join students from Padua College in Brisbane and The Hutchens School in Tasmania

The students hope participating in the competition will open doors for them in the future, just like it did for a former student, who completed an internship with NASA in Germany and is now doing their PhD in Aerospace.

The competition is for high school students, giving them the experience to work with an aerospace proposal team

The contest entails "designing a city in space that will be a home for over 10,000 people. Student engineers demonstrate creativity, technical competence, management skills, space environment knowledge, teamwork, and presentation techniques to conquer the problems inherent in siting and designing a Space Settlement (aka Space Colony)".

Bundaberg Regional Council have given the students $500 each in financial support. The three are seeking sponsorship or donation for the competition.

If you'd like to help them get to America to participate in the competition, you can make a donation to the Bundaberg State High School bank account:
