Cairns detectives investigating an alleged break-in and sexual assault of a woman at Kanimbla yesterday have charged two Manoora men.
It will be alleged a woman aged in her 30’s awoke yesterday (January 11) morning just before 1am to find a man assaulting her.
The woman screamed and the man fled.
It will be alleged property including phones, wallets and a handbag were stolen.
Police located an 18-year-old man in the nearby vicinity a short time later. He was charged with one count of sexual assault in company and burglary and commit an indictable offence. The man appeared in the Cairns Magistrates Court yesterday and has been remanded in custody to re-appear on March 1.
Cairns detectives yesterday afternoon arrested and charged a 17-year-old man, with some of his charges including sexual assault in company, burglary and commit an indictable offence and enter with intent.
He was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court this morning.
The woman was not physically injured.
