The Music for the Brain is on Sunday. In it’s 4th year the event raises money and awareness for Synapse, helping people with a brain injury. There will be 8 hours of music from local bands, family fun, games, animal petting farm, food and drinks. Entry only $5 adult our $10 family. It’s on at the North Cairns Football club on Sunday from 11am – 7pm


The Machans Beach Super Suburb Sale is on Sunday. 37 homes to participate. Start your adventure at the School, pick up your map of all the garage sale addresses and while there enjoy all the entertainment and stalls the school has put together before heading off to discover all the bargains each household has to offer. Don’t forget to drop by the Hall in Tucker Street before you leave as they too will have trash and treasure stalls a coffee cart, cold drinks, cakes and sweets for sale. It all starts at 8am.


The Wonderland Spiegeltent will be opening with a remarkable line up of shows in Port Douglas on all weekend. Entertainment for all ages you wouldn't want to miss, only in Port Douglas until the end of May 2018! Check the Port Douglas Carnivale website for bookings.


This year Tanks Arts Centre and Cairns Botanic Gardens will host the 5th annual Cairns Children's Festival. THE 5FT GIANT is performing on Sunday from 9.30am and 11.30am. Things in Fara Way have never been fairer, that is until a giant moves in next door, standing at a huge 5ft tall! They can’t possibly battle this Giant alone and need your help. This Saturday, AFL Cairns Women in conjunction with AFL Cape York Eagles FC are using the Women’s Football Fixtures at the Buchan Street facility as the vehicle to raise community awareness and start the conversation about the need to Stand Up against Domestic & Family Violence. South Cairns vs. Manunda Hawks 12:00pm, Cairns Saints vs. Centrals TB 01:30pm


The Douglas Shire mulch giveaway will help residents give their gardens a fresh and vibrant look ahead of Port Douglas Carnivale next week. Mulched green waste will be available at Killaloe Transfer Station and Newell Beach Transfer Station. The Cairns Regional Council also have free mulch this weekend at Portsmith, Gordonvale, Smithfield, Babinda transfer stations.


RSPCA Million Paws Walk is on Sunday on the Esplanade. There will be food, fun competitions and kids' activities at the venue starting from 7.30am and continuing after the walk, so it will be a great day out for your friends, family and dogs!


Youth Urban Art Project is on at the Redlynch Skate Park on Saturday. Beautifying the Redlynch Skate Park as part of the Youth Urban Art Project. Free, fun art and design workshops for all young people aged 12-25 years. It’s on from 10am – 11.30am


The Taste - Round The Tank Music Festival is on Sunday at the Tanks. Cairns Children's Festival is bringing the midnight dance party to the middle of the day in this family friendly music festival featuring some of Cairns premiere musicians. Round the Tank Music Festival will feature The Geckos, NightShift, The Taste, Naomi Wenitong and more. It’s for children up to 12 years and starts from 10am – 2pm.


Cairns Tropic Jazz, 1pm to 4pm at the Portsmith Club on Sunday. Live Jazz bands and guest artists all afternoon.
