The Mareeba Rodeo has a history dating back to 1949 and has become a national icon on the rodeo calendar and is on Saturday and Sunday. Top level competition and entertainment gives spectators plenty to watch over 2 days of full-on action from 7:30am each day. All the usual rodeo events including bull ride, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, ladies and & junior events


The Cairns Indigenous Art Fair Fashion Performance is a new way for audiences to experience artistic and cultural practice of Queensland's Indigenous peoples, through art, textiles, performance and fashion. It’s on Saturday at 3.30pm at the Tanks, tickets from ticketlink.


The Sprint Cars are back Saturday night with the Thunder in the Cane Bowl. Gates open at 3pm and racing starts at 6pm at the Edmonton Speedway.


Bastille Day celebrations for the family will be in Cairns Saturday. The party will be held from 3 pm to 11pm at the North Cairns Tigers Football & Netball Club There will be traditional French country games a barbecue French style and French music. Tickets $25, kids free.


There will be a Cooking masterclass with Chef Pete Evans for Cairns locals to learn new and nutritious recipes to live a healthy lifestyle. It’s on at the Barr Street Markets Sunday, 1pm – 4pm


The 60th Anniversary for the Cairns Historical Society and the 1st Anniversary of the reopening of the Cairns Museum is on Saturday 10am – 6pm. There is a fabulous day of fun and entertainment planned with dress ups for the Kids and prizes for the best-dressed boy and best-dressed girl in Museum inspired costumes (judging will commence at 12 noon). Don't miss the Kids Activity Trail from 10.00am to 1.00pm.


Port Douglas Markets are on Sunday from 8am – 1.30pm in Market Park, which adjoins ANZAC Park, Port Douglas. Bordered by Dickson Inlet and Wharf Street. The markets provide locally produced food, fruit and veggies as well as hand crafted goods of every description.


Back by popular demand, Andrew De Silva brings his Purple Revolution: A Tribute To Prince show back to The Reef Hotel Casino. The show starts from 9pm at Bar36 and is free


A family fun day at Machans Beach at the beautiful School Street park will be on Saturday from 4pm. Live open mic music jam, basketball, tennis courts and playground for the kids.


Pitchas after dark is a free event on Saturday night at the Cairns Cruise Liner Terminal, 8pm – 10.30pm. The event will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Screen Australia’s Indigenous Department, join with leading Indigenous filmmakers from across the nation followed by a retrospective of short films.
