A volunteer group has today been handed a quarter of a million dollars worth of Federal funding to help keep Central Coast waterways clean on behalf of council.
Robertson MP Lucy Wicks headed to West Gosford's Adcock park this morning, to announce the $250,000 in funding for Clean4Shore.
Clean4Shore spokesperson Graham johnston says they'll target Narara and Erina Creeks, Brisbane Water and the Hawkesbury.
"Our aim is to take young people, youth organisations, corporate groups and community groups out on the waterways and remove the rubbish from within our mangroves and foreshore, especially the plastic and polystyrofoam," Mr Johnston told the newsroom.
The announcement comes just days after a poor report card for a number of our lakes and beaches, while last weekend Central Coast council put out a health warning not to swim at beaches on Tuggerah Lake and Lake Macquarie, due to elevated levels of bacteria.
