There are calls for a full safety assessment to be undertaken on a new wharf at Ettalong.
The Peninsula Chamber of Commerce says it's a sub-standard repair job, which wouldn't cut it in rough conditions.
"The new Ferry road wharf and pontoon has only just been opened, and now they've had to close it with some safety issues with the link between the fixed part of the wharf and the ramp," President Matthew Wales explains.
"But more importantly the pontoon, I believe, is rather a cheap and nasty job... I think it's sub-standard, it's rocking around even in this light breeze."
Mr Wales is calling on Council to review the structure, saying "I certainly wouldn't want to be an older person and standing on that pontoon today."
