EPA Asbestos Awareness month comes to Coast EPA

Environmental officers are set to blitz the Central Coast's waste facilities and construction sites, over the coming week.

Environment Protection Authority and SafeWork reps will turn up unannounced keen to find any Asbestos not properly disposed around the Coast.

The EPA says there's big fines ahead - $7500 and $15000 dollars for businesses found doing the wrong thing.

It follows Central Coast Council last night voting against getting staff to look at waiving fees for locals who dispose of household Asbestos.

While Point Clare residents are pressing Council to investigate, after Asbestos was alleged exposed during demolition works on Brisbane Water Drive.
