A 31-year-old man is currently stable in Westmead after his motorcycle crashed off the road, through a guard rail and caught fire on the Central Coast yesterday afternoon.

Bystanders were able to pull the man from the motorbike before fire engulfed the motorcycle and its surroundings.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked shortly before 5pm, landing at the scene on Peats Ridge Road.

NSW Rural Fire Service attended and contained the fire. Police and NSW Ambulance units were also on scene.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic treated the man for a fractured arm and facial injuries. Thanks to the quick action of those attending, the man did not suffer burns in the accident.

The man was airlifted in a stable condition.
