FULL TIME: Western Sydney has won its fifth game from as many starts in Gosford, beating the Mariners 2-1 in a see-sawing Round 19 match.

Llorente was awarded man of the match after a superb first half, in which he set up several scoring opportunities with some superb corners and crosses. One each of these was converted by Sotirio and Riera in the 14th and 30th minutes respectively.

The Yellow and Navy’s second consecutive scoreless home game came despite a much more spirited and polished showing in the second half - during which they were rewarded with a dozen shots on goal.

They were finally rewarded in the 76th minute, when substitute and new recruit Peter Skapetis headed in a cross from Jacob Melling with his first touch.

The Mariners finish this round still at 9th on the A-League ladder, and have this week off, not playing to start the split Round 20 of the A-League.

But they won’t just be kicking up their heals: Okon’s instructed his players to each get out to one of the 23 local football clubs on the Coast, to help them recruit new members.

SECOND HALF:

94': De Silva feeds to Buhagiar, who shoots from the right hand corner but misses. That might be it...

86': Mariners still fighting hard to equalise, but the Wanderers have the lead 2-1.

84': SUBSTITUTE MARINERS, Berry comes on for Melling.

83': SUBSTITUTE WANDERERS, Baccus comes on for Bonevacia.

77': SUBSTITUTE WANDERERS, Santalab coming on for goalscorer Riera.

76': GOAL MARINERS! With his first touch of the ball at his new club, Peter Skapetis heads in a Melling cross from point-blank range near the left-hand post at the northern end. Just reward for a much-improved second half from the home side.

2-1 in the Wanderers' favor.

74': A Mariners corner is repelled by the Wanderers defence, but it spills to Melling, whose flying shot from beyond the box is on target but deflected by Janjetovic.

A minute later, the ball's still in the Mariners' forward half, but a poor pass from Buhagiar sees the play amount to nothing.

SUBSTITUTE MARINERS: Powell off for Skapetis.

71': A flurry of scoring shots by the Mariners in the last few minutes with no conversion. Roux fires from beyond the box but it's over the top left-hand corner of the net. Then a low shot by De Silva is saved by Janjetovic, and this is followed by another long-ranger from McGing which the goalie also gloves easily. 2-0 Wanderers.

58-59': Another two chances set up by Hoole and Melling go begging. The first sees Powell and De Silva both denied by defenders, while the second time De Silva tries to angle it around the keeper and a challenging defender, but his shot is wide. 2-0 Wanderers.

50': The Mariners have had all the play to start this half, and the opportunities are coming thick and fast. Hoole disposesses Riera on the edge of the box and centres to Hiariej, who fires from long range. The shot's a few feet too high.

46': Several chances for the Mariners to start this half. Powell finds it right at the top of the box but again is well challenged by two Wanderers defenders. The ball stays alive and the Mariners lock it in their forward half, with some passes culminating in a Melling shot along the ground from the edge of the box. It's headed for the bottom left-hand corner but Janjetovic saves it. 2-0 Wanderers.

45': SECOND HALF BEGINS, for the Wanderers, Ikonomidis comes on for goalscorer Sotirio.

FIRST HALF:

45': The subsequent Hoole penalty is a flop.

30': GOAL WANDERERS! Again it's Llorente setting up the goal with a curling ball into Riera, who heads the ball towards goal. Kennedy gets a hand to it, but it bounces back into the goal while he falls to the ground.

2-0 to the visitors.

28': YELLOW CARD to Antony Golec for a challenge.

25': A good passage of play from the Mariners goes unrewarded. McGing finds  De Silva, who puts a wonderful ball in to Powell at the centre of the box. He's blocked from having a shot by Risdon and Thwaite.

22': The Wanderers are starting to get on top of possesion here, while McGing appears to be having a lot of difficulty containing Llorente. 1-0 Wanderers.

14': GOAL WANDERERS! Poor marking has been threatening to cost the Mariners since the start of this game, and now it finally has. From a corner, Llorente curls to Sotirio, who's all on his own 10 metres out. He connects with teh ball and volleys it towards goal, where Kennedy gets a hand on it but the ricochet flies into the top of the net.

1-0 Wanderers' way.

12': Hoole has the ball near the goal line at the water end and crosses inboard. It's a dangerous kick but there's no one there to tap it in. It's after he had a shot from 10 metres out that didn't have the power to beat Janjetovic. Free-flowing game at the moment, though the Wanderers look more threatening.

10': The Mariners have got away with another shot on goal helped by poor defence. Bridge finds himself with the ball in the inner rectangle, but he's denied a goal by kennedy's great reflexes. 0-0.

9': More end to end stuff - First the Wanderers, with Llorente curling a ball in beautifully to Riera, who heads it goalward but is well saved by Kennedy. The Mariners take it down the other end but De Silva's denied before getting a shot by the Western Sydney defence.

7': Several instances of sloppy defense from the Mariners, but fortunately the Wanderers can't manufacture a scoring opportunity. 0-0.
