A Development Application has been submitted to Central Coast Council to build a new private hospital in Wyong.
Healthe Care Australia says it's propsed facility - Tuggerah Lakes Private Hospital - would be located on the corner of the Pacific Highway and Craigie avenue in Kanwal, and create up to 50 jobs.
The company says it will include four operating theatres, fourteen recovery bays, six recovery chairs, twenty inpatient overnight beds and consulting spaces.
“The location, directly opposite Wyong Public Hospital, will complement the region’s healthcare services, while providing a fantastic new facility for privately insured patients,” said Matt Kelly, Central Coast Regional Manager for Healthe Care.
“It has been a very exciting time for the Healthe Care group, with many new developments at both Gosford Private and Brisbane Waters Private in recent months."
"The redevelopment of Theatre 6 and opening of the Gosford Private Endoscopy Centre, and commencement of construction of 24 new rehabilitation beds at Brisbane Waters has helped to increase our capacity and the range of services we can offer right here on the Central Coast,” said Mr Kelly.
It follows the state government announcing last week it will not privatise Wyong Public Hospital, and instead proceed with a $200 million upgrade of the facility without private sector input.
