Nominations Are Now Open For The Rockhampton Region Australia Day Awards Rockhampton Morning Bulletin

Can you believe the year is almost over?!

In just a few short months we'll be into a new year, which means Australia Day is creeping up on us once again.

Today, Rockhampton Regional Council announced that nominations for the 2019 Australia Day Awards are now open!

The Awards recognise and honour those who have made significant contribution to the local community.

Mayor Margaret Strelow encouraged residents to nominate the "unsung heroes" within the community.

Each year it’s an absolute honour to acknowledge the individuals and groups within our community who go above and beyond to achieve their best and serve others... Our Region is filled with dedicated, humble and generous people who make a positive difference to the lives of others around them, and we want to make sure their efforts are acknowledged.

- Mayor Margaret Strelow

Mayor Strelow stated that learning about the contributions of the 2018 Award winners was "incredibly heart-warming", and she is looking forward to hearing the 2019 nominees.
