Railway Track Signal Detonators Stolen in Orange

Police are investigating, after several railway track signal detonators were stolen in Orange yesterday.

Around 12:30pm (October 18), three signal detonators were laid out during track work, in the railway corridor near Byng and Summer Streets.

Workers noticed the devices were missing a short time later, before they contacted police.

Officers from Canobolas Local Area Command and the Police Transport Command arrived at the scene and commenced inquires. 

Police would like to speak with two men seen nearby, who may be able to assist.

The first man is describe as being around 18- years-old, with long black scruffy hair, wearing a light jumper. The second man was not described. 

Police have issued the following warning:

"The devices pose a safety risk if used incorrectly. The warning devices are placed on railway lines to alert track workers of approaching trains.

Police are advising members of the public if they locate these devices not to tamper with them or if you are offered them for sale to contact police immediately."
