Life-saving technology's set to roll out at the Orange Health Service, one of just 23 spots in New South Wales, rapid flu testing to revolutionise the way pathologists test for the virus.
The rapid testing program will allow doctors to undertake an examination and receive results, wait times to drop from 4 days to just 4 hours at the Orange Hospital.
Distinct from the common cold, influenza poses a big risk to groups like those with a heart condition, cancer or diabetes.
It comes as the flu season's well underway in the Central West, with 50 per cent more cases than this time last year in NSW.
