Sick of Influenza: 70, 000 Confirmed Cases in 2017

Worst Flu Season Ever

Sick of Influenza: 70, 000 Confirmed Cases in 2017

Health experts are warning that Australia's on the brink of the worst flu season ever and if you've had a runny nose, sore throat, or aches and pains, you might be one of 559 reported cases of influenza in our local health district, so far this year.

In 2016, there were only 323 notifications of influenza in the Western NSW Local Health District, for the year to August, but we've seen almost double the cases in 2017, for the same period.

We are urged to make sure we take the steps to prevent spreading the virus, the influenza vaccine still available, and free for some community members. We can get the jab from most local chemists, or we can visit our GP to discusses ways to stop from getting the flu in the first place.
