Major Crash officers have charged a 45-year-old man as a result of their investigation into a fatal traffic crash that occurred on the Brookton-Corrigin Road in Bulyee, around 28 kilometres west of the Corrigin town site on Sunday, 19 August 2018.

A Holden Commodore towing a trailer was travelling east along the Brookton-Corrigin Road on Sunday evening when it ran out of fuel.

The 27 year old male driver parked on the gravel verge, left the vehicle and began walking towards Corrigin to get fuel.

A 26-year-old woman and four children remained in the Commodore. Around 11.40pm, a Kenworth truck towing two semi-trailers was travelling east along the Brookton-Corrigin Road when it collided with the rear of the Holden Commodore and trailer.

The force of the collision caused the Commodore to roll several times, causing significant damage to all vehicles.

A 26-year-old woman and a 10-year-old boy in the Commodore sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Three children who were in the Commodore, an eight-year-old boy, a five-year-old boy and a three-year-old girl, sustained serious injuries and were all airlifted by RAC Rescue helicopters to the Perth Children’s Hospital.

The driver of the Kenworth was treated for minor injuries at Corrigin Hospital.

Major Crash Investigators have charged the driver of the Kenworth, a 45-year-old man from Forrestfield with:-

• Two counts of Dangerous Driving Occasioning Death;

• Two counts of Dangerous Driving Occasioning Grievous Bodily Harm; and

• One count of Dangerous Driving Occasioning Bodily Harm.

He appeared before the Perth Magistrates Court on August 22, 2018.
