A man has been charged with Skye’s Law after failing to stop for an RBT, and reaching speeds of 150km/h in a 50km/h zone in Coffs Harbour.

About 12:30am on Tuesday morning, police were patrolling on the Pacific Highway in Coffs Harbour, when they attempted to stop a white Holden Commodore wagon for a Random Breath Test.

According to Police, the vehicle sped off after officers activated their warning lights to pull the vehicle over.

The vehicle has allegedly reached speeds of 150km/h in a 50km/h zones, in a number of streets, as well as driving through red traffic control lights.

The alleged driver, a 40 year old man from Nambucca Heads, then ran from the vehicle in Prince Street into a nearby unit complex where he was arrested.

The man was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with an offence under Skye's Law (Police Pursuit) and Driving in a manner dangerous.

He was bail refused by police due to the risk to the community to Coffs Harbour Local Court today, 3 October 2017.
