A man who committed "grave and evil" acts of sexual abuse and bestiality in rural New South Wales has been found dead.

Allan Kenneth Brookes, 56, was sentenced to a minimum of seven years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing a boy on a NSW dairy.

In April, Judge Chris Craigie said Brookes had subjected his victim to "persistent and degrading abuse" that started when the boy was 13.

While sentenced to a total of 10 years and 6 months, Brookes would have been eligible for parole in September 2023.

Today during his program on Triple M Coffs Harbour, Ray Hadley confirmed that Allan Brookes had been found dead at Lithgow Correctional Centre.

Reading a state from NSW Corrections, Hadley said, “a 56 year old man has been found dead in his cell at Lithgow Jail on Saturday July 22.  This death is not believed to be suspicious. All staff involved have been offered counselling and peer support. The death is being investigated by the Corrective Services NSW Investigation Unit, NSW Police and are preparing a report for the coroner”.

Ray Hadley continued to say that “I can confirm, the 56 year old man is Allan Brookes”.
