Deputy Prime Minister and Nationals Leader Barnaby Joyce made a special visit to Coffs Harbour on Friday afternoon to look at the location of the proposed Coffs Harbour Bypass.

His first visit as Minister for Infrastructure and Transport to Coffs Harbour was first revealed on Triple M on Friday morning when Federal Member for Cowper, Luke Hartsuyker spoke to Moffee.

It comes as the NSW State Government handed over the business plan to the Federal Government this week.

Just an hour after being sworn into his new role, Barnaby Joyce was presented with the business plan by Luke Hartsuyker in Canberra.

With the strategic business case submitted to the Federal Government, the NSW Government seeks a funding commitment from the Commonwealth to start building the project in 2020 as scheduled. However, Member for Coffs Harbour, Andrew Fraser, said he will be pressing hard for a start on the Bypass to be sooner rather than later.

Mr Fraser and NSW Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight, Melinda Pavey, also joined the Deputy Prime Minister on Friday afternoon when he visited the city.
