A Coffs Harbour man will spend at least 27 years behind bars for the murder of a two year old girl in 2014.

Justice Megan Latham handed down the 36 year sentence to Thomas Lock in the NSW Supreme Court in Coffs Harbour on Monday.

Three years ago the child, who cannot be named for legal reasons, died of blunt force trauma injuries, after she was taken to the emergency department in a critical condition.

It is understood that the child’s mother and family were in court during the sentencing.
