BREAKING NEWS: Man Arrested in Relation to Murder of Sharon Edwards

**UPDATE**

A man has been extradited to NSW after being arrested in Queensland over the 2015 murder Sharon Edwards.

Mrs Edwards, a 55 year old mother, grandmother, and dedicated local teacher, was reported missing on Tuesday 17 March 2015.

She was last seen about 10:30pm on Saturday 14 March 2015, when she arrived at her home on Riverdale Court, Grafton, following dinner at a local pub with friends.

She was due to teach classes the following Monday (16 March 2015), but failed to attend.

Strike Force Burrow was established by the Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command to investigate her disappearance.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives from Queensland Police Service's Homicide Squad arrested a 61-year-old man at a home at Redcliffe, Queensland, just after 1pm on Tuesday 16 June 2017.

He was taken to Brisbane Watch House and appeared at Brisbane Magistrates Court, where Strike Force Burrow investigators applied for and were granted his extradition to NSW.

The man will now travel with detectives to Tweed Heads Police Station, where he will be charged with murder.

He is expected to face Tweed Heads Local Court later today.

As the matter is before the courts, no further information is available.

In a joint operation between Coffs Clarence Detectives and Queensland Police Homicide Detectives, a 61 year old man from Lawrence has been arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant.

The man was arrested at a house in Redcliffe in Queensland in relation to the possible murder of Sharon Edwards just after 1pm today.

Mrs Edwards was last seen about 10.30pm on Saturday 14 March 2015, when she arrived at her home on Riverdale Court, Grafton, following dinner at a local pub with friends.

Mrs Edwards was due to teach classes the following Monday, 16 March 2015, but failed to attend.

Strike Force Burrow was established by the Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command to investigate her disappearance.

Following the arrest, a crime scene warrant was executed at a home at Lawrence, north of Grafton.

Police addressed media in Grafton this afternoon.
