UPDATE:

Council have responded to concerns raised by Triple M on Friday morning regarding a Dog Attack in Nana Glen.

Footage emerged of the incident on social media, taken from CCTV at the Two Tails Winery.

Triple M Breakfast host, Moffee, wrote to Council seeking comment on Thursday night to the General Manager and senior staff.

At 11:21am, Council released the following statement:

Council takes all dog attack incidents extremely seriously and we always respond immediately.

In this case, a Ranger received a call from the Police late on the afternoon of Friday, 18th May, and immediately contacted the owner of the dog that had been attacked to arrange an interview.

That interview took place on the following morning (Saturday 19th May). In the statement, the owner expressed the view that her dog was the target of the attack and not herself. She received some scratches trying to protect her dog.

The owner of the other animal was then contacted and an investigation confirmed that the dog is registered, micro-chipped and has no prior history of attacks. It is kept in an enclosure with other dogs on his property.

The owner of the dog was issued with a written warning on Wednesday, 23rd May, and a Proposed Nuisance Dog Order has been issued. These actions were taken as per the provisions of the Companion Animals Act 1993, which governs the penalties that can be imposed.

A Nana Glen business owner has been left shaken and concerned after an incident involving a dog last week outside their premises.

Madonna Bannerman from Two Tails Winery spoke with Triple M after a visitor from Sydney was left wrestling on the ground with the dog, after it appears to attack a smaller dog.

The incident took place just after 2pm last Friday and was captured on CCTV footage.

The canine victim was left with puncture wounds and on antibiotics under vet care.

According to Mrs Bannerman, Council Rangers and the Police were called, with the incident reported and an investigation said to have taken place. However has since learned that the dog will be microchipped and made to stay in its yard.

The business owner's biggest concern is that it may have been a lot worse had it been a young child with the small dog.

When asked what response Council gave to the footage, Mrs Bannerman said they planned to try and meet with senior Council staff to show them the vision.

"At this point no one has wanted to view the footage", she told Triple M's Moffee.

Coffs Harbour Council have been contacted for comment.
