The search for a well known cat on the Coffs Coast has got nasty.

Bob, the ginger cat went missing last month, since then owner, Sue Merrick has searched everywhere to locate the cat.

As part of the RSPCA team, Bob is used to help with the training of rehab dogs before they are adopted.

Last week, Sue did a letterbox drop of flyers in the hope for answers.

On Friday, one of the flyers was posted to Sue with a handwritten note on the back.

It read, "how many native birds has the f.....r killed. Let me assure you No more. A good cat is a dead cat".

The note has since been reported to local Police.

The RSPCA and many welfare organisations have concerns that there are residents in many areas who take to killing cats, or assisting others to do so.

If you recognize the handwriting, please contact Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
