The Coffs Clarence Local Area Command are kept very busy on a daily basis, with the community’s safer their main focus.

Triple M’s Moffee caught up with the command’s Crime Manager, Detective Inspector Darren Jameson on Tuesday to talk about the great work that has taken place in the area over the last 4 years.

With a targeted approach to tackling drugs and crime in the region, Detective Inspector Jameson spoke of ways that the community can help to ensure the levels of crime can reduce even more.

Traditionally the Coffs Clarence LAC has been one of the highest arresting commands in the state over the past 4 years.  Det. Insp. Jameson told Moffee, “when we do a reasonable amount of reduction in crime category, it brings down the state figures”.

“Our proactivity has increased almost 200%, we have very little wanted or outstanding offenders now”.

During the chat on Triple M, Det. Insp Jameson spoke of the hard work from the sworn officers and unsworn staff of the Coffs Clarence, saying “we’ve got your back”.

“We want to live in a safe environment and we want to do everything we can to drive down crime”.

Over the last 4 years, the Coffs Clarence LAC have seen drops of 29% in alcohol related assaults, while drug detection is up 13%.

A key focus on crime is the link that cannabis has to driving crime.

In our region, robbery, stealing from motor vehicles and dwellings has also dropped.

Responsibility also comes back to the community, with Police asking us to ensure we lock up, and take extra care, “it’s about education for the community, with securing premises” Det. Insp. Jameson said.

Figures for the last 4 years in the Coffs Clarence:

  • Alcohol Related Assault down 29%
