A permanent solution for the safety and enhancement of the Coffs Harbour Boat Ramp will be in focus in NSW Parliament in coming weeks.

It follows more than 12,000 signatures on a petition that was tabled in Parliament by Andrew Fraser on September 18.

Safety at the ramp came under the spotlight again after a number of incidents on the Easter long weekend causing injury and damage to a number of boaties.

The petition calls for the creation of a Coffs Harbour Regional Boat Ramp precinct that has suitable amenities for boat ramp users.

In April, a committee lead by John Lawler addressed Coffs Harbour City Council, with the intention to present a report to the council by the end of 2018.

According to Mr Lawler, the matter has been allocated to the Minister for Roads and Maritime, Melinda Pavey, who he says will “provide a written response to Mr Fraser on what the government intends to do about the condition of the ramp precinct by 23 October 2018”.

The specifics of the petition are due to be debated in the Parliament at 4:30pm on 18 October 2018.
