A man in his 20’s has been airlifted to the Gold Coast just days before Christmas, following a dirt bike accident near Coffs Harbour.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was sent to a rural property near Bucca, north west of Coffs Harbour, after reports that a 23 year old male had suffered a chest injury whilst dirt bike riding on the property.

According to NSW Ambulance, the man is understood to have collided into a tree branch about 9.30am.

The motorbike rider was initially treated by local NSW Ambulance Paramedics at the scene, before being further assisted by the critical care medical team from the Rescue Helicopter.

Police and Ambulance carefully transported the man, still with the branch in his chest, from Gum Flat Rd for just over a kilometre to the helicopter landing area.

The 23 year old man was flown to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition for further treatment.

Authorities are reminding motorbike riders to take care and wear the appropriate safety clothing.

The latest accident comes just weeks after a man in his 40’s was killed when his bike collided with a tree at Woolgoolga.
