Coffs Harbour Man Charged with Child Abuse Material Offences

A Coffs Harbour man has been arrested and charged after allegedly soliciting child abuse material online from a teenage girl.

In recent months, Detectives from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command have been investigating the online activities of a man from Boambee East.

Police will allege the man engaged online with a 14 year old girl over a number of months, sending and requesting material classified as indecent.

About 7am on Tuesday, detectives executed a search warrant at the man’s home, seizing a number of items.

A 54 year old man was placed under arrest and taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with use carriage service to solicit child abuse material and use carriage service to send indecent material to child under 18 years.

The man was refused bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today (Wednesday, 28 June).
