Traffic and Highway Patrol officers from Nambucca caught an 18 year old speeding on the new Macksville Bypass.

Less than a week since opening, the 18 year old man was detected travelling at 120km/h in the 100km/h zone.

When officers stopped him on the Pacific Highway, he produced his Learners license and stated that he was travelling from Ballina to Kempsey, a distance of some 300km.

A roadside breath test returned a reading, he was then arrested and a later breath analysis showed a mid range reading of 0.093.

Enquiries on his license showed he is Disqualified until 16/05/18.

The man was issued an infringement notice for the speeding matter and charged with Mid range PCA, Drive whilst Disqualified and Breach of Bail.

He was Bail refused and due appear in Court at Macksville.
