A man remains in Gold Coast Hospital following a serious single vehicle crash north of Glenreagh on Thursday night.

Emergency services and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter attended after reports of a ute into a tree on Orara Way.

The vehicle appears to have left the road before it struck the tree, trapping one of two males for some time.

Crews worked to free the man in his 40’s.

The helicopter landed at Glenreagh Oval where it was met by paramedics who treated the man for spinal, lower leg and chest injuries. He was stabilized before being airlifted to Lismore Hospital, and since transferred to Gold Coast Hospital. He remains in a serious, but stable condition.

The second man in the vehicle was taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital with minor injuries.

The Crash Investigation Unit continue to investigate the crash.
