A car has been written off and the driver responsible for hitting it didn’t remain at the scene.

The hit and run in Woolgoolga on Monday is understood to have involved a female driver in a car with false number plates.

At 10:10am on Monday, a car was parked on Featherstone Drive, near Mitre 10, when a car described as a black Holden Commodore attempted to skid around the corner, before losing control and hitting the stationary vehicle.

According to a witness, the car driver appeared to be female with blonde hair.

The driver failed to stop at the scene of the crash.

It is expected that the vehicle responsible will have damage on the left side including the front light.
