A man will appear in court, charged over the alleged importation and supply of a prohibited drug in the Kempsey area.

In an ongoing investigation focusing on the illegal importation of MDMA, officers from Mid North Coast LAC, together with Australian Federal Police and the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, arrested a 22 year old man on Thursday.

Officers attended the Clyde Street address in Kempsey about 11:20am, where the man was taken into custody.

It will be alleged the man purchased the drugs over the internet which were then imported into Australia via international mail.

During a search of the man’s home officers allegedly seized 794 grams of MDMA along with a substantial amount of cash.

He was taken to Kempsey Police Station where he was charged with five counts of importing a border controlled drug, supply prohibited drug and deal with the proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail and will appear in Port Macquarie Local Court today (Friday 8 September 2017).
