Tragedy for the NSW North Coast town of Evans Head following the death of a local developer in a tragic Australia Day plane crash.

Peter Lynch and a female passenger died on Australia Day in Perth, when theĀ 70 year old Grumman Mallard G-73 he was flying nosedived into the Swan River after executing a steep turn while landing.

Mr Lynch was behind plans for a multi-million dollar Air Park at Evans Head.

Mr Lynch recently flew the aircraft to Perth following the 2017 Evans Head Great Eastern Fly In where it performed handling displays at the event.

A spokesman from the Evans Head Great Eastern Fly In Committee said the organisation was deeply saddened by the news.

It is understood that plans for the Evans Head Air Park were in final negotiations with the Richmond Valley Council, with development approval expected in coming months.
