A man has been refused bail after being charged with allegedly threatening a family camping south of Grafton earlier this week.

Police have been told a man and his teenage son and daughter were in a public camping reserve at Doboy Road, Buccarumbi, south west of Grafton, about 6:30pm on Tuesday evening, when they were approached by a man.

The man allegedly threatened the group with a firearm then he drove away; two shots were heard a short time later.

Police from Coffs Clarence Local Area Command were alerted and an investigation initiated.

About 4:30pm on Wednesday, a 39 year old man was arrested at his home in Cunglebung Road, Dalmorton, south-west of Grafton.

He was taken to Grafton Police Station where he was charged with five counts of intimidation and one count each of threaten injury with intent to commit indictable offence, and use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence.

The man was refused bail overnight and appeared in Grafton Local Court today, where he was once again remanded in custody. He is due to re-appear in Grafton Local Court on Monday 23 January 2017.
