Heavy, constant rainfalls in recent days may lead to possible flooding according to the Bureau of Meteorology.

The BoM have issued an Initial Flood Watch Warning for the Mid North Coast and Northern Rivers.

"A low pressure trough over parts of the northeast of New South Wales may potentially bring moderate to heavy falls over the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast over the weekend and early next week", the release said.

The weather system is likely to bring intense rainfall and has the potential to cause riverine flooding from Sunday onwards.

Widespread rainfall over the New South Wales Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast has the potential to cause riverine flooding from Sunday onwards.

A low pressure trough over parts of the northeast of New South Wales may potentially bring moderate to heavy falls over the Northern Rivers and Mid North Coast over the weekend and early next week.

The weather system is likely to bring intense rainfall and has the potential to cause riverine flooding from Sunday onwards.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

  • Wilsons River - minor flooding
  • Orara River - minor flooding
  • Bellinger and Kalang Rivers - minor flooding 

Flood Safety Advice:

This Flood Watch means that people living or working along rivers and streams must monitor the latest weather forecasts and warnings and be ready to move to higher ground should flooding develop.

Flood Warnings will be issued if Minor Flood Level is expected to be exceeded at key sites along the main rivers for which the Bureau of Meteorology provides a flood warning service.
