Helicopter Help Fight Fire in Coffs Harbour

Fire Fighters from the Rural Fire Service have been joined by a water bombing helicopter at the back of Red Hill in Coffs Harbour to contain an out of control fire.

Crews from multiple RFS units are currently working to control the grass fire near Bennetts Road.

Warm temperatures and strong winds are making the task more difficult.

One Triple M listeners said the fire was going along the ridge, near Banana farms.

Motorists are advised to take care in the area with smoke causing problems with visibility.

Locals have been advised to remain alert and close doors and windows to avoid the smoke in the area.
