One of Coffs Harbour's most respected gentlemen has been named an OAM in the 2018 Australia Day Honours List.

Geoff King OAM is one of 895 award recipients announced today from around the country.

Named as a recipient of the Medal of the Order of Australia, Mr King is recognised for his service to the community through a range of charitable organisations.

In 2004, Geoff King was named the Coffs Harbour City Council's Citizen of the Year.

The owner of Geoff King Motors has not only been an institution in Coffs Harbour for many years by employing many locals, his support for local organisations is outstanding.

For many years, he has been a great supporter of the Coffs Harbour Police and Citizens Youth Club, as well as the Woolgoolga, Sawtell and Coffs Harbour Surf Life Saving Clubs.

Member for Coffs Harbour, Andrew Fraser, has joined a long list of Coffs Harbour locals who are very proud of Geoff King and his amazing work for the Coffs Coast community.

"Thoroughly well deserved, a man who has put much more back into his community than he has received. I am thrilled that he has received this recognition", Mr Fraser told Triple M.

The awards are a key part of the Australia Day landscape, recognising exceptional Australians like Geoff King.

"To all recipients, I offer my deepest congratulations, admiration and respect for your contribution to our nation", the Governor-General said.

For more than 40 years the Honours List has helped to define, encourage and reinforce national aspirations and ideals by acknowledging exceptional Australians.
