UPDATE:

Telstra have confirmed that the 4G network has now been fixed.

EARLIER:

Telstra’s 4G network across the country is experiencing a major outage.

One Triple M Coffs Harbour listener alerted us to the outage via Facebook.

He said his phone message continued to say that "a network outage was not allowing call".

According to Telstra, the issue is impacting some 4G and nbn voice calls.

The Telecommunications giant took to Twitter saying, “Our team are looking into an issue impacting some 4G and nbn voice calls – calls over 3G are not impacted. We’re working to fix ASAP. We do apologise for any inconvenience”.

It is understood that users can switch to 3G to make phone calls.

Just hours ago the telco announced a smartphone plan with unlimited data.

In today’s statement, Telstra exec Vicky Brady said, "We are now introducing the unlimited plan Australians tell us they want while maintaining the superior network experience they expect."

"We have invested billions in our network, pioneered world-leading 4G speeds and pushed our 4G coverage out to more than 99 per cent of the population” she said.

It is unknown how long the outage will take to restore fully.
