A man will face court on charges relating to two armed robberies in Coffs Harbour.

About 4:40pm on Thursday 5 July, a man, armed with a meat cleaver, allegedly entered a store in Park Avenue and threatened an employee.

He allegedly stole cash before fleeing the scene on foot.

No one was injured during the incident.

Then, on Monday morning about 7:40am, a 20 year old woman was walking through an arcade on Park Avenue when she was approached from behind by a man.

The man allegedly hit the woman in the face and threatened her with a screwdriver before leaving the scene with her bag.

Officers from Coffs Clarence Police District attended both incidents and investigations were launched.

The woman did not sustain any physical injuries.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 34 year old man at a home on Albany Street in Coffs Harbour about 9:40am on Tuesday morning.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with two counts of robbery armed with offensive weapon.

The man was refused bail and will appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today.
