Man Granted Bail by Magistrate in Coffs Harbour

A magistrate in Coffs Harbour has granted conditional bail to a man charged with a range of domestic violence offences and breaching bail.

In September, a 20 year old man allegedly breached his bail conditions in relation to a range of serious offences.

He was arrested on Wednesday 4 October 2017, in relation to the alleged breaches and charged at Coffs Harbour Police Station.

Police in Coffs Harbour refused bail to the man. On the same day he appeared at Coffs Harbour Local Court before Magistrate B Thomas, where he was granted conditional bail.

After being released the man allegedly assaulted his 21 year old girlfriend by choking, slapping and kicking the woman.

Police from Coffs/Clarence LAC conducted extensive inquiries for two days to locate the man before he was arrested at a Korora motel on Pacific Highway.

The man was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm (x2); malicious damage (x2) and stalk/intimidate.

He was bail refused, however on Tuesday, the man appeared before Magistrate Jeff Linden in Coffs Harbour Local Court where he was granted conditional bail.

The matter is listed for hearing on 19 February 2018.

Speaking about the matter on Triple M, Ray Hadley discussed how the NSW Police must be feeling with decision made by Magistrates.

“Can you imagine what Mick Fuller the Commissioner and the coppers in Coffs Harbour are doing?”

He said, “they chase this bloke all around the mid north coast, they get him, now Jeff Linden decides that he will enter into an agreement to observe the following specified requirements to report to Coffs Harbour Police Station”.

Ray Hadley is calling for the Attorney General’s office to appeal the decision.
