A man will appear in Coffs Harbour Court today after allegedly running over a pedestrian on the Mid North Coast.

About 11am on Tuesday, a 27 year old woman was driving her car along Mann Street in Nambucca Heads, accompanied by a 37 year old man and nine month old baby.

Police have been told that a blue Holden overtook them at high speed.

A short time later the woman drove into Palmer Street and saw the Holden on the side of the road with the male occupant waving his hands out of the driver’s window.

The woman stopped near the Holden and the man allegedly threatened the couple, producing a knife.

The 37 year old man got out of their vehicle and ran towards the Holden, which was parked in Palmer Street, when it’s alleged the vehicle was driven towards him.

The man was struck by the car, which also hit the parked vehicle. The driver then fled the scene.

Police later located the vehicle at Raleigh, south of Coffs Harbour, and spoke with the owner.

As a result, a 27 year old man was later arrested at Coffs Harbour and charged with affray, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, and drive furiously in motor vehicle do/cause bodily harm.

He was refused bail, and scheduled to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today (Wednesday 27 September 2017).

The 37 year old man was treated at the scene for lacerations to his legs and conveyed to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a stable condition.
