If you've ventured down around the Coffs Harbour Jetty this afternoon you would've been greeted by the view of an anchored tall ship.

The STS Young Endeavour has pulled up in the middle of the harbour for the next 24 hours.

The 44 metre ship and it's crew left Brisbane on Monday bound for Newcastle as part of the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme.

The training vessel will arrive in Newcastle on Thursday 12 October.

Young Endeavour was given to Australia by the British government in 1988, as a gift to celebrate Australia's bicentenary of colonisation.

The ship is operated by the Royal Australian Navy, where it is primarily used to provide sail training to Australian youth with up to 30 people taking part in each voyage.
