Police have confirmed a pedestrian was hit and killed by a truck on the Pacific Highway south of Grafton on Wednesday night.

Emergency services responded to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian on the Pacific Highway at Bom Bom, south of Grafton just after 6:10pm.

Officers from Coffs Clarence Police District attended the scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Triple M understands the B-Double was heading north at the time of the incident.

The 46 year old truck driver was taken to Grafton Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

The 37 year old male pedestrian died at the scene, he is yet to be formally identified.

The Pacific Highway reopened to traffic about 10:30pm.
