A man has been charged after allegedly slashing a police officer with a box cutter during an arrest on the Mid North Coast.

About 5:20pm on Sunday, police were called to investigate a domestic incident on Carbin Street, Bowraville, and a break and enter at Maloney Street, Bowraville.

When police attended a home on Cohalan Street, Bowraville, to speak with a 27 year old man, he allegedly produced a box cutter and slashed the right forearm of a male senior constable.

A struggle ensued and the man was arrested after a taser was deployed.

The man was taken to Macksville Police Station where he was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent, detain for advantage, use weapon to avoid apprehension, assault police causing actual bodily harm, and resist arrest.

He was refused bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court on Monday 19 December 2016.
