Social media went into meltdown over the weekend after footage emerged of an incident on St Patrick’s Day outside a local licensed premises.

The vision shows 18 year old Josh Little in an altercation with a security guard outside the venue after being kicked out.

Police addressed media on Monday regarding the incident, confirming that an investigation into the matter is underway, however, as of 1pm on Monday, no complaint has been made to Police.

Under licensing conditions, premises have strict requirements with CCTV footage with multiple cameras.

According to Detective Inspector Darren Jameson, officers have viewed CCTV footage showing the events in the lead to the captured vision on the smartphone.

“It’s about accessing the information from the CCTV and then looking at it with fresh eyes”.

Det Insp. Jameson said, “the vision on social media is a component of vision of the incident that took place”.

Police raised the concern of social media advising people to go to police should they feel victim of any alleged assault, rather than airing their grievance online.

“If somebody is alleging they are a victim of a serious assault, they should come to the police.”

“It’s not suitable to air our issues on social media and make allegations against people, whether those allegations are true or not”, Det. Insp. Jameson said.

Any witnesses to the incident are urged to get in touch with Police via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
