Five people have died on the state's roads in the past 24 hours.

One of the fatalities was on the Mid North Coast.

Police are hoping to speak to the driver of a small white car that may have witnessed a motorcycle crash west of Port Macquarie yesterday.

Police were called to the crash on the Oxley Highway at Mt Seaview, west of Port Macquarie, around 2pm.

Emergency services attended, however the 51 year old male rider died at the scene.

The driver of what is described as small white car may have witnessed the crash, and Police wish to speak with them.

It was the second motorcycle crash within hours on the same stretch of highway.

Just after 11:45am on Saturday, police were called to a crash involving a 35 year old motorcycle rider.

He suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Police from Mid North Coast Local Area Command are investigating both crashes.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
