Public consultation on the future of the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore precinct has opened.

Member for Coffs Harbour, Andrew Fraser announced today that transparent community-wide consultation would take place over the coming months to capture the community’s input on the future of the Jetty Foreshore precinct.

“This is an important milestone and a critical process in making sure the development of the Coffs Harbour Jetty Foreshore precinct reflects the needs and wants of the local community,” Mr Fraser said.

“Everyone will have the opportunity to have their say, and I encourage people to do just that”.

The first stage of consultation is through an online platform where community members can literally drag and drop their ideas onto a map of the precinct. The ideas can be built upon, discussed, and voted for on the online platform.

The second phase of the comprehensive consultation plan will be face-to-face discussions in the form of drop-in sessions, which will build on the collection of ideas and provide the opportunity for more feedback.

The face-to-face drop-in sessions will be held at the Cavanbah Centre in Harbour Drive on Friday 23 March from 3 - 6pm and on Saturday 24 March from 10am to 1pm.

Coffs Harbour Mayor Denise Knight said the consultation process was an opportunity for the local community to be heard.

“This really is an opportunity to voice your opinion. Every comment will be visible for community members to look at, so get online or come to the drop-in sessions that are being run, or both,” Cr Knight said.

The third phase of consultation involves collating the ideas provided by the community, and then discussing and ranking them at community workshops to be held later in the year. People will be able to register their interest in attending the workshops at the drop-in sessions.
