UPDATE:

An urgent patient transport was underway off the Coffs Coast yesterday afternoon.

Just before 12:30pm, the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter advised that they were headed to the cruise liner Sea Princess.

At the time, it reported that the ship was off the coast of Coffs Harbour where a passenger required urgent recovery and transport.

Later in the afternoon Triple M were advised by the chopper that they had to winch an elderly female patient from the cruise liner, before she was flown directly to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

The helicopter Critical Care medical team were winched on board the Sea Princess to stabilise the patient.

The winch rescue of the female passenger was carried out less than 5 nautical miles off the Coffs Harbour coast line.

The condition of the patient is unknown.

 

EARLIER:
