The iconic Sawtell Rock Pool will be fixed next Wednesday according to Coffs Harbour City Council.

Triple M listener, Des, called Moffee on Thursday asking for help to find out when it would be reopened.

"Mate, it's been shut off for 2 months, us oldies like to swim in it each morning", he said.

After contacting the Coffs Harbour City Council, Mick Raby let us know that the work should be completed next Wednesday.

A valve which allows the pool to be drained at low tide to clean and look after water quality failed in the open position meaning water would flow in and out. A build up of sand was causing a possible safety hazard making it difficult to judge the depth.

According to Council the part was no longer available with a local Coffs Harbour business being able to design and make the new valve which is set to be installed at very low tide.

An excavator will also be onsite to dig out the sand on the same day.

The pool should be re-opened for use by the first high tide which follows.
