Storms are headed for the Coffs Coast this afternoon.

The Bureau of Meteorology released a warning for severe thunderstorms in coming hours, likely to produce large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, as well as damaging winds.

Woolgoolga, Coffs Harbour, Sawtell and Dorrigo are in the firing line, as well as Grafton to Tweed Heads.

 

Earlier this afternoon cyclonic weather ripped through Toowoomba, leaving one main road cut due to flash flooding.  While parts of Southeast Queensland were covered with hail.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for LARGE HAILSTONES, HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS

For people in Northern Rivers and parts of Mid North Coast and Northern Tablelands Forecast Districts.

Issued at 4:13 pm Sunday, 21 October 2018.

Weather Situation: A trough is interacting with a humid airmass to produce thunderstorms in the northeast of New South Wales.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce large hailstones, heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds in the warning area over the next several hours.

Locations which may be affected include Tweed Heads, Byron Bay, Ballina, Lismore, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Woolgoolga, Sawtell and Dorrigo.
