Police are investigating reports of an on-field brawl in an Under 18's Group 2 Rugby League game on Saturday.

The brawl initially involved players from Coffs Harbour and Nambucca during the game at the Hogbin Drive League fields in Coffs Harbour.

It is alleged that a spectator entered the field of play and punched a player from one of the teams.

The match was cancelled by officials and police attended.

According to the Country Rugby League, 4 players will face the judiciary regarding the incident.

CRL's Chief Administrative Officer, Jim Anderson told Triple M, "the CRL continues to clamp down on this, it is totally unacceptable behaviour".

A 17 year old youth was ejected from the ground.

Police are currently speaking with witnesses, and reviewing video footage of the incident. Anyone with information or video footage is requested to contact police.
